Delfryn Lodge, Mold: Cambian Healthcare

This new build residential psychiatric unit for women is in a rural setting, and provides high standard residential care accomodation. The landscape scheme needed to create a safe and hazard free environment for residents, with a sheltered courtyard providing an attractive recreation area with wonderful views out over the Vale of Clwyd. The timber shelter provides an external space for therapy sessions and a raised bed was created to encourage less able residents to participate in growing flowers and produce.

Sherwood Lodge, Mansfield: Cambian Healthcare

Another residential unit for Cambian is proposed to be built adjacent to an important lowland heath SSSI at Rainworth Heath in Nottinghamshire. In addition to a sheltered secure courtyard garden for residents recreational use there are plans for a large horticultural therapy area with a polytunnel, raised beds and wildlife garden and also plans for an all weather sports pitch for residents use.

Marple Dale Care Home: The Mount House Ltd

Working with Bowker Sadler Architects on the design of a new build private care home in a wooded site in Cheshire the building was developed in an Arts & Crafts style which is complemented by ornamental gardens designed to encourage both passive and active recreation. Individual bedrooms are connected to the gardens by a small patio with a pergola to provide shade and enclosed planting beds to provide privacy. In addition there are informal flower gardens, a formal lawn where bowls may be played and a peaceful water feature overlooked from the residents lounge and a decked seating area.

Day Care Centres, Chorley and Ormskirk: Lancashire County Care Services

Creation of gardens at Day Centres with a variety of features to enable involvement with the gardens including: raised beds for accessible gardening for the less ambulant clients, water features, greenhouses and ornamental shrub and herbaceous borders.

Woods Hospital, Glossop: For Pennine Care NHS Trust

Creation of a Sensory garden for a small Dementia Unit at Glossop, to provide relaxation and stimulation for residents. A semi circular ramp leads down from the wards into the paved courtyard garden with raised beds and bench seats, with a meandering pathway leading into a more informal lawned garden.

Willowood Hospice, Tameside: For Tameside Healthcare Trust

Working with architects Bowker Sadler Partnership the practice was successful in a competition to design a Hospice with associated gardens. The scheme was built round a newly created circular pool fed by a cascading stream. Each room has a terrace overlooking the gardens and a secluded decked area provides a peaceful area for residents and visitors to enjoy the tranquil setting.
